Club Announcements 6/1/2010 |

We began sign ups for the Installation Dinner. The dinner will be held at Rey's Restaurant in Cary on June 22, 2010 from approximately 6:00pm until 9:00pm. We hope to have a sample menu and exact pricing next week.
Katie Elder made an announcement about make-ups. As we approach the end of the year their are several members very close to 100%. She is e-mailing out an attendance report and asked everyone to please look over it for accuracy. If you find any errors or have a make-up to add please let Katie know as soon as possible so she can give you credit before the attendance awards are finalized.
President Neil thanked Bob Hatley for allowing us to use Paragon Bank to store our Peace Scholar's furniture for the summer. He also thanked Kelly Cobb for the use of her truck and Tim Carr for his assistance in moving.

Club Meeting on 5/11/2010 |

Our weekly club meeting for 5/11/2010 will be held at the Cary YMCA. World Vision is a Christian charity organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. The World Vision Experience: AIDS is a traveling exhibit designed to educate the public about the AIDS pandemic. The YMCA of the Triangle is hosting the exhibit this spring.

Club Announcements 4/20/2010 |
President Neil gave a report from the District Conference this past weekend. Several clubs offered presentations about projects they held over the past year. It was a great opportunity to hear all the great things going on in District 7710. The club won the Family of Rotary award for the district. This is an award given out for non club members involvement in Rotary activities. The Cary Club has always had great support from family and friends in our projects. If you want to learn more information about the District Conference and why you should attend next year, please see President Neil, Tim Mannix, or Kent Thompson.

President Neil announced the Charter Night for the New Apex Rotary Club. It will be held Saturday April 24th 6:30 PM at Jimmy V's. All members are invited to attend and the cost is $35.00 per person.
President Neil handed out copies of a Read and Feed fundraiser that he had received from Mary Kamm. On May 4th Barnes and Noble Bookstores will donate a portion of their proceeds from 5:00-8:00 PM to Read and Feed to help improve childhood literacy in Wake County. We also have the opportunity to order cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Factory at a savings with a portion of those proceeds also going to Read and Feed.
Bill Fletcher made an announcment about our freshman scholarships. Each year the club gives out four $1000 scholarships to high school seniors heading off to college. These students are selected by counselors at several local high schools and are evaluated in part on a need basis. Bill wanted to let the club know if they knew of possible candidate we would be happy to accept their application for consideration. Tom Ford made an announcement about a fundraiser his company is helping to put together for anticipated Wake Med Children's Hospital. The event is titled Bowties for Bandaids and will be held at Magnolia Green on Saturday May 1, 2010. Please see Tom Ford for more details.
President Neil announced that the club has made plans to hold our installation banquet on the evening of Tuesday June 22, 2010. Details and exact times will be announced later.
